	Nikolai Bulganin served as Premier of the Soviet Union for 3 years, from 1955 to 1958. He was a supporter of [[Joseph Stalin]] while Stalin was alive, holding positions such as Deputy Commissar for Defense and Marshall of the Soviet Union. Upon Stalin's death, he became Defense Minister and stood as a supporter of [[Nikita Khrushchev]] and his policies of reform and "destalinization". He became premier in 1955. Within two years, Bulganin had soured on the reform policies and began to back Khrushchev's opposition.
